Nissan India launched the new facelifted Sunny in the Indian market. The 2014 Sunny receives comprehensive changes on the exteriors and interiors which makes the car more premium.
The tenth generation Sunny was first introduced in Indian in 2011. The diesel and CVT variants were introduced subsequently. The 2014 continues to Sunny offer spacious interiors and with new feature additions makes the car more appealing and a stronger competitor in the sub 10 lakhs sedan segment.
The facelifted Sunny is available in three petrol and five diesel variants. The top end XV Premium is available in the diesel only and one can choose either the XV D Premium (Leather) variant which is equipped with leather seats and for those who want to feel even safer you can choose the XV D Premium (Safety) variant which is equipped with Side airbags.

The facelifted Sunny comes with bigger and bolder chrome grille, new boomerang-shaped headlamps and new front bumper. The fog lamps are equipped with chrome finishers and chrome highlights in the front bumper lower lip give the car a brand new identity.
At the rear, the Sunny is equipped with a flared bumper, black diffuser cladding, chrome trunk garnish and short antenna at the rear end of the roof. Other styling features include chrome door sills, Outside Rear View Mirror (ORVM) mounted turn signals and stylish 12-spoke Y-pattern alloys.
The Sunny is now available with six colour options which include three new shades- Pearl White, Deep Grey and Nightshade. The sedan will also be available in Onyx Black, Bronze Grey and Blade Silver.
On the inside the new dashboard gives the car a more premium appeal. The enhanced dashboard with piano black finish center console lends the car a richer feel. The same is also found in the Micra. The new 2 DIN audio system is equipped with Bluetooth®, USB and Aux-in ports. The topend XV variants get a 5.1-inch display for the audio system, which also doubles up as a display for the rear parking camera. The New Sunny also gets an all-new steering wheel with integrated audio and telephone controls.
The model retains the ‘best in class’ interior space and also comes with a host of luxury and comfort features including leather seats, individual rear reading lamps and air blower for rear passengers. The NVH levels have also been improved for a quieter cabin.
The Sunny is equipped with even more safety features. ABS, EBD and Brake Assist is standard across all variants as is the driver airbag, while a passenger airbag is available from XV grade onwards. Buyers can also opt for side airbags on the XV Premium Safety variant.
The Sunny will continue to be powered by the 1.5-litre HR15 petrol engine and 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine. The petrol engine is available with a choice of 5-speed manual and Xtronic CVT automatic transmission, while the diesel variants are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol variants offer ARAI certified fuel efficiency figures of 16.95kmpl and 17.97kmpl for manual and CVT transmission respectively. The figure has improved to 22.71kmpl now for the diesel variants.
The Sunny will compete with the segment leader Honda City, the recently launched facelifted Ford Fiesta, the SKODA Rapid and the VW Vento.
