TVS Motors has unsettled Hero Moto Corp to become the second largest scooter seller in India.
According to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), TVS Motor sold 249,077 units in April-June beating Hero Motocorp which sold 209,790 units.
In the first quarter April-June period, TVS Motor grew at a healthy rate of 35.51% when compared to Q1 of the last financial year. The company sold 183,805 units in the same period.
TVS Motors has a wide range of scooters in the Indian market with models such as Scooty Zest 110, Scooty Pep+, Wego 110 and Jupiter.
The Company recently introduced new colours for both TVS WEGO and TVS Jupiter.
TVS also launched the TVS Scooty Zest 110 is a new matte colour series and new colours for TVS Scooty Pep+ as well.
The Jupiter brand has been the best-selling scooter for TVS which rivals Honda Activa. The Jupiter is available in 3 versions Standard, ZX and ZX Disc.
TVS also plans to launch a new scooter this fiscal which is rumoured to be Jupiter 125 to compete with the likes of Activa 125 and Suzuki Access 125.
The scooter segment has been posting high growth with consumer preference shifting from motorcycles to scooters. The ease of riding a scooter in congested traffic conditions, manoeuvrability, riding comfort, practicality and gearless convenience has helped the segment attract a larger target audience.
