Suzuki is working on a new hatch codenamed YRA which will be launched globally next year and will compete in the premium segment. The new YRA hatch will be positioned above the Swift to take on the likes of new Elite i20 and the new Polo which are moving a segment above.
The new hatch is larger in dimensions both on the outside and inside and will offer spacious interiors and the longer wheelbase will provide more leg room. We expect the YRA to be just under 4 metres to meet the Indian excise duty.
The design is similar to the Swift profile. A new V-shaped chrome strip along the large front grille, elongated headlamps and DRLS placed in the front bumper close to the fog lamps.
The YRA hatch will be powered by the K-next 1.2 petrol engine and Suzuki may offer a 1.4. The 1.3 DDiS diesel engine with either 75 or 90 Ps power tune will be offered. Expect features like push button start, 2 DIN audio with touch screen, Auto climate control and a MID system similar to CIaz.
The move to go upwards comes after the initial success of the Ciaz sedan which has generated a large of enquiries and sitting on over 15,000 plus bookings.
