Volkswagen to reveal compact sedan name today
German car maker Volkswagen India will unveil its first made-for-India car during Auto Expo 2016 and the company plans to reveal the name today (20th January). Volkswagen India has released a teaser video asking viewers to guess the name of the compact sedan.
According to rumors the Volkswagen sub-four-metre compact sedan production model could be known as Ameo or Bora.
The Volkswagen sub-four-metre compact sedan has been caught testing several times and clearly showcases its overall profile. The car is based on the Polo platform and will be powered by 1.2 petrol and 1.5 diesel which also does duty on the Polo hatchback. We could expect VW to tune the petrol engine for more power and may also offer its 7-speed DSG on the diesel.
We can expect Volkswagen’s High-quality, scratch-resistant dashboard and superior fit and finish interiors. Variant options include Trendline, Comfortline and top end Highline.
The Volkswagen compact sedan Ameo will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Motors Zest, Ford Figo Aspire and Honda Amaze.
The Volkswagen Ameo will be showcase at the 2016 Auto Expo and the commercial launch is mostly to happen in the second half of year. The production of the compact sedan at Volkswagen Pune Plant is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2016.
The car is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 5.2-8.5 lakhs.
