Baleno RS will compete with the likes of Polo GT and Punto Abarth
Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car maker unveiled the sporty Baleno RS hatchback at the 2016 Auto Expo and also hinted the car will be launched in the Indian market ahead of the festive season.
The sporty hatchback was caught testing and according to CarDekho the car was an export-spec Maruti Suzuki Baleno with the 1.0L Boosterjet.
The Baleno RS will be launched with 1.0L three cylinder turbocharged ‘Boosterjet’ engine and will be the first car to get a turbocharged petrol engine in Maruti’s product range.
The Baleno RS Boosterjet engine produces 110 hp and 170 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gear box.
The RS variant will feature a body kit which includes a new mesh grille, sportier front bumper with a wider radiator intake and silver underlining, side skirts, black alloy wheels, roof spoiler a lower rear bumper and chrome door handles.
The Baleno RS will lock horns with hatchbacks like the FIAT Abarth Punto and the VW Polo GT TSI.
On the pricing front the car could start at Rs. 8.9 to 9 lakhs and could be offered in 2 variants.
