Ford has introduced Driver & Passenger Airbag on the base Ambiente variant of the EcoSport compact SUV. With the addition of air-bags on EcoSport all Ford models are now equipped with dual air-bags from base model, except the Figo hatch base variant which comes with driver air-bag only.
ABS & EBD are standard from Trend model we hope this feature too percolates in the base model. Ford is ensuring it is speced well against its closest rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza which comes with Passenger Airbag and ABS as optional from base variant.
Ford recently launched the EcoSport Signature edition with an accessory package.
There are no other changes and the compact SUV continues to be offered in 3 engine options : 1.5-Litre Ti-VCT petrol, 1.5-Litre TDCi diesel engine and a 1.0L EcoBoost three cylinder engine. The 1.5-Litre petrol is available with a 6-speed Powershift DCT gearbox.
Ford has been facing stiff competition from rivals and the company has been pushing sales via price cuts and launching limited editions. The American car maker is also working on a facelift for the EcoSport and will be launched in 2017. The Ecosport facelift will debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show.
The compact SUV segment will see further intense competition with likes of Hyundai’s sub- 4 metre SUV and Tata Motors Nexon crossover.
