FIAT India has been struggling in India and even after launching a couple of products and opening 100 dealerships the company is able to sell only about 1000 units per month.
The Italian car maker is planning to do another Linea Classic and this time plans to re-introduce the Punto hatchback in the Indian market and will call it Punto Pure.
The Punto Pure will be more of an lower cost variant of the Punto which was replaced by the Punto Evo in 2014. The Punto Pure will be available in three trims – Active, Dynamic and Emotion and be offered with the same engines 1.2 FIRE petrol and 1.3 Multijet diesel.
The Punto Pure will have the old front facia and tail lamps with black interiors. The car will be well specked and we can expect FIAT to launch the vehicle at a very attractive price. We hope FIAT also introduces the Sport with 90 Hp diesel engine.
The Punto is one of the best handling hatch with strong build quality. However the car has managed to convince only a select set of buyers mainly FIAT aficionados in the country.
When launched, the Punto Pure will compete with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Tata Bolt. The Punto Evo is priced from Rs. 4.99 lakhs for petrol and Rs. 5.95 lakhs for diesel, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
Companies are re-introducing older models at lower price tag with small changes which helps to bring more volumes for the dealers and also a larger product range to choose for price sensitive customers. Nissan did the same with Micra by introducing Micra Active.
FIAT will launch the Punto Pure in the market very soon. Will this move help FIAT to get more sales, let wait and watch.
