2017 Jeep Compass caught testing in India

Jeep Compass caught testing India, launch in 2017.

The Jeep Compass C-SUV (Jeep 551) which recently was unveiled in Brazil has been caught testing on Indian roads. FCA has announced this year the Compass is going to be the next model in the India product line-up and will be made in India.

A truly global all-new compact SUV, the Jeep Compass will be produced with 17 fuel-efficient powertrain options for consumers in more than 100 countries around the world. India will get a 172hp 2.0-litre Fiat Multijet II diesel engine that will be localised and will also be shared with upcoming SUV from Tata Motors.

The new Jeep Compass (Jeep 551) borrows many styling cues from the big daddy Grand Cherokee which includes the characteristic grille, small headlamps with LED DRLs, front bumper and overall body profile.

On the pricing front the C-SUV (Jeep 551) will be priced aggressively and will compete with the likes of Hyundai Tucson.

Jeep new SUV will be sold via independent dealers and could use FIAT dealers in select cities to start with.

Globally Jeep will merge the Compass and the Patriot into a single model.

The company will locally assemble the SUV at the company’s Ranjangaon plant new Pune. The vehicle will be exported to all right hand drive markets from India and may be used as base for ASEAN and other markets.
