The hot hatch segment or simply to say 5 lakhs plus hatch segment is getting competitive. Manufactures are launching several new models looking to lure customers who are upgrading from smaller hatches and also those who are buying their first car.
German car maker Volkswagen which has positioned themselves as a premium car maker will soon add more equipment to their best-selling Polo hatch. The Polo received minor updates last year and will now get more equipment which includes electrically foldable door mirrors, a cooled glove box and cruise control most likely on the Highline variant.
With additional equipment, VW will also increase the price of the car in the range of Rs. 5,000 for the Trendline & Comfortline and Rs. 15,000 for the Highline.
The Polo in India is available in the following variants – Polo 1.2, Polo 1.5 TDi, Polo GT TSI, Polo GTD and Cross Polo. The Polo GT TSI comes with a 1.2 TSI petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and develops 105 PS of max power.
Volkswagen offers dual air-bags standard on all variants and ABS from second variant. The VW Polo is one of the best looking hatchbacks in its segment but sparse dealer network and high spare costs have kept buyers away from this German machine.
