Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS to be powered by 1.0 Boosterjet engine.
Maruti Suzuki unveiled the Baleno RS, a sports version of the Baleno hatchback in the Indian market.
The Baleno has already been well accepted in the Indian market and is just a few numbers behind the segment leader Hyundai Elite i20.
Power from a new 1.0 BOOSTERJET direct injection turbo engine
The Company also unveiled the 1.0 BOOSTERJET direct injection turbo engine. This new engine punches far above its weight – and displacement – to deliver amazing power, torque and road speed. The Baleno RS Boosterjet engine produces 110 hp and 170 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gear box.
Concept Baleno RS will offer customers the opportunity to experience the thrill of a performance car with the extravagance of a premium hatchback.
The RS variant will feature a body kit which includes a new mesh grille, sportier front bumper with a wider radiator intake and silver underlining, side skirts, black alloy wheels, roof spoiler a lower rear bumper and chrome door handles.
It is built on the acclaimed new-generation platform which makes vehicles more rigid, safer, light in weight, more fuel efficient and quieter.
The Baleno RS is expected to be launched in the Indian during the festive season. The car will compete with the likes of FIAT Punto Abarth and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. With
Maruti Suzuki entering the sports could make other car makers introduce sporty and performance oriented versions of the regular models.
