India’s second largest selling hatchback will soon receive an upgrade. The 2014 Maruti Suzuki Swift was spotted at the company’s parking lot in Manesar. Our friends at Gaadwaadi have spotted the 2014 Swift which gets a minor updates on the exterior and interiors. A number of cars were spotted and the launch is expected to take place ahead of the festive season.
The 2014 Swift will get a new bumper design with LED DRLs around the front fog lamps and new design alloy wheels. There is news of Maruti Suzuki launching a sportier version of the Swift and could be positioned above the ZXi/ZDi variants and christened as Swift Sport. The addition of a rear disc brake, push button start, sportier interiors and an upgraded audio system is expected.
Volkswagen and FIAT have introduced more powerful variants of their hatchback models, however the Swift will be continued to be offered with the same engine options. Maruti may consider an automatic variant with the same auto gearbox available on the DZire.
India’s largest carmaker has been able to post higher sales with the ongoing festive season. With new launches like the new Ciaz sedan and Celerio diesel the company is looking for a larger pie of the premium segment.
