Mercedes-Benz India announced the local assembly of the all new S-Class in the Indian market. The German luxury carmaker launched the new S 500 in January and only 125 units were allotted. The S 500 is assembled at the company’s Chakan plant and is the most powerful luxury sedan to be made in India. The S 500 already has a waiting period of 3 months.
The locally assembled S-Class will loose on a few features available on the launch edition and is priced at Rs. 1.36 crores ex-Showroom Mumbai. The launch edition was priced at Rs.1.575 Crore ex-Showroom Delhi.
The S 500 is powered by a V8 4663cc petrol engine which produces a maximum power of 338 kW /459hp @ 5250-5500 and a max torque of 700 Nm @ 1800-3500. The S 500 sprints from 0-100 in just 4.8 seconds.
The new S-Class is definitely one of the best looking luxury cars in its segment and offers a class above comfort. The AIRMATIC suspension offers a very smooth ride quality and safety features like PRE Safe assure driver and passenger safety, ESP, 8 airbags, adaptive Brakes with HOLD function, ASR and Hill Start Assist make the car very safe even at high speeds.
