Mitsubishi will launch the Pajero Sport automatic in India in the next fiscal. The Pajero Sport manual made its much delayed debut in the Indian market in 2012. The Pajero Sport succeeded the much acclaimed Pajero in the Indian market and has been selling an average 150 units per month.
HM-Mitsubishi has now decided to launch the automatic variant of the Pajero Sport. The AT variant will be available 5 speed INVEC II automatic transmission with Sportronic. The Sports Mode allows you to enjoy the ease and comfort of an automatic, with the option of then switching to the versatility and control of a 5 speed manual without the use of a clutch pedal using paddle shifts.
The Pajero Sport is powered by a 2.5L intercooled turbocharged DOHC common rail DI-D engine which produces max power of 178Ps @ 4000 rpm and Max torque of 200 Nm @ 2000 – 2500 rpm.
It is likelihood of Mitsubishi offering the AT on the four wheel drive variant which will be an advantage the SUV will offer over the Toyota Fortuner which is available with an AT on the 2WD variant only. Another competitor is the new Hyundai Santa Fe which will be launched by end of January.
