Mitsubishi starts production of Mirage G4 in the Philippines

First vehicle to go into production under CARS Program.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announces the production of the Mirage G4 in Philippines. Mirage G4 is the first model to go into production under the Philippine government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) Program.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation will assemble the car in MMPC’s plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna Province which has an annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles.

The sedan is also known as Attrage in some other markets.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines retails the Mirage hatchback and Mirage G4 sedan.

The sedan is powered by 1.2L DOC 12-Valve Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control System (MIVEC) engine which delivers a fuel efficiency of up to 21 km/L. Transmission option includes a 5-speed manual transmission (MT) and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

Key features on the car are – Bi-xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps with LED-Type position lamps, 4-inch alloy wheels, Dual SRS airbags, anti-lock brake system, EBD, 1-DIN Audio with CD and AM/FM Radio, Engine start stop button and Keyless Operation Key.

The car is sold in 5 variants – GX, GLX, GLX CVT, GLS and GLS CVT.

MMPC started production in 1964. In 2009, and then in May 2016, it became the first auto company in the Philippines to reach a cumulative production volume of 500,000 and 600,000 vehicles respectively.
