India bound new Jeep Compass C-SUV (Jeep 551) launch likely in 2017.
The all new compact Jeep code named C-SUV or Jeep 551 has been spotted in Brazil during a Local TVS shoot. The Brazilian publication, Autoo managed to get photographs of the 2017 new Jeep Compass (Jeep 551/Jeep C-SUV) and gives us clear understanding of the exterior styling of the next gen SUV.
The next-gen Compass will be revealed later this year in Brazil and will make its debut on Indian soil in 2017. The SUV is based on a modified platform found on the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X.
The new Jeep Compass (Jeep 551) borrows many styling cues from the big daddy Grand Cherokee which includes the characteristic grille, small headlamps with LED DRLs, front bumper and overall body profile. The rear gets wraparound LED tail lights with a spoiler. The SUV spotted gets dual tone paint finish with glossy black top. There are no details of the interiors, but we can expect high amount of technology and convenience features to be made available.
Engine and Transmission
Power train option includes a 2.0-litre flex-fuel engine and a 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine. The SUV will get a 9-speed automatic on the diesel and 6 speed manual on the flex fuel engine. The new Jeep Compass will enter production in Brazil by end of this year and will also be made in India at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility close to Pune.
In India the new gen Compass (Jeep 551) will be powered by 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine sourced from Fiat and mated to a 6 speed manual transmission.
Globally Jeep will merge the Compass and the Patriot into a single model, the new generation Compass.
The vehicle will be exported to all right hand drive markets from India and may be used as base for ASEAN and other markets.
