Land Rover has introduced the all new Discover Sport SUV in the Indian market. This is the first member of the Discovery family and will replace the Freelander SUV.
The Discovery Sport design defines the new Discovery family with optimised volume, proportions and stance. Its progressive design and excellent engineering result in a dynamic profile, offering optimised use of interior space and 5+2 seating configurability.
The Discovery Sport has been introduced with two 2.2L four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engines, available in 140 kW SD4 and 110 kW TD4 derivatives.
Land Rover opened booking for the Discovery Sport on the 10th of August and by 16th August the company had received more than 200 bookings. At the time of launch Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL), said, the new SUV has received good response with more than 300 bookings and will locally manufactured at the Pune plant.
The very capable Discovery Sport comes with superior Terrain Response® technology and the ability to wade to 600 mm with approach, departure and break-over angles of 25, 31 and 21 degrees respectively.
Media entertainment includes 17 Speakers, 825 Watts MeridianTM Surround Sound System with an all-new 20.32 cm (5 inch) colour touch-screen with navigation and (8 inch) rear seat entertainment.
The SUV comes with 9-Speed Automatic Transmission, Terrain Response® and Park Assist, Day Time Running Lamp (DRL), Hill Descent Control (HDC) – 4WD ONLY, Efficient Driveline – 4WD ONLY and many more.
In terms of safety the SUV is equipped with Reversing Camera, Seven Airbags – Front (Driver and Front passenger), Knee (Driver), Side curtain, Driver and Front Passenger and Row 2, Perimetric Alarm with Remote Panic Alarm and robust chassis.
The new Discovery Sport will be available in India in 7 exterior colour options with exciting interior colour-ways such as Tan / Ebony, which is available on top-of-the-line HSE Luxury model.
Available in four trims S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury, the SUV comes in 7 variants.
