New Toyota Fotuner launch fast tracked after Delhi diesel ban uplifted.
With the diesel ban uplifted, Toyota has fast tracked its plans to launch the New Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market. The Japanese company plans to launch the SUV in the first week of November.
The Fortuner shares its platform with the new Innova Crysta and Hilux pick-up globally. The new platform is lighter yet stiffer and helps to offer better high speed handling and stability.
The New Toyota Fortuner is an all new SUV with a new exterior & interior design and also has more crossover like profile ditching the bulky butch design.
The front though dominating loses on the aggressive look which is found on the current get Fortuner. The SUV gets new sleek Bi-Beam LED Projector headlamps, large front bumper with grille extending to lower end and LED Daytime Running Lights. The SUV is equipped with 19” alloy wheels Light Guiding LED Rear Lamps. The rear profile looks elegant and tail lights with Chrome bar gives the SUV a premium appeal.
On the inside the interiors are very premium with Chamois cream Leather and Synthetic Leather Seat’s Material, Sport and Power Driver Seat 1st Row Seat (Leanable / Adjustable), and LED Illumination System with reading lamp.
The SUV also gets Cruise Control, Upper Box (Cool Box), USB/AUX Port, FM/AM and DVD Touch Screen, Bluetooth for Hand-Free and Music player and Navigator System Support T-Connect
In terms of safety the SUV comes with LED Daytime Running Lights, Back Camera, A-TRC Traction Control (TRC), Down Hill Assist Control (DAC), 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, BA and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
Engine options include two diesel engines: a 2.4-litre and a 2.8-litre, and a petrol motor of 2.7-litre capacity. The 2.4L produces 148 BHP and 400 Nm of torque while the 2.8L generates 175 BHP and 450 Nm of torque.
Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The top-end 2.8-litre variant will likely get the All-Wheel Drive setup, while the entry-level variants will come with rear wheel drive.
Toyota will also launch the TRD Sportivo versions of the SUV in the Indian market and may get performance enhancements apart from cosmetic upgrades.
The Fortuner will compete with the Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Hyundai Santa Fe, Upcoming Jeep SUV, Nissan Hybrid and to be launched SKODA Kodiaq.
