Nissan has broken the silence of its much awaited SUV based on the Renualt Duster platform by revealing a sketch and the nameplate. Nissan’s latest SUV, the Terrano, will be launched in India by end of present financial year. Th SUV will be built in India along with other Nissan models at its Oragadam facility.
Although the SUV will be sharing its basic platform with Duster, it will be positioned a level up then Duster in premium SUV segment. It will be offered in two engine options: a 1.6 –litre petrol and a 1.5 –litre diesel power mill which will be mating with 5 and 6 speed manual gearboxes respectively.
Since, Nissan has been projecting Terrano as premium SUV it wouldn’t be unsafe to assume that the pricing of this car will be in the Rs.10 lakhs plus bracket. There is no doubt that the main motivating factor behind launch of this compact SUV is the remarkable success of Duster that grew Renault’s sales figures by 13-folds in just 12 months. Similar expectations are being kept with Terrano as despite presence of so many vehicles, Nissan is still striving to make a mark in Indian market.
Making a place for itself wouldn’t be an easy road for Terrano as it will have to surpass its shadowself Duster in every single aspect and justify its higher price in terms of efficiency, mileage, features, and specs..
