Renault Kwid 1.0 AMT to be launched today.
Renault will be launching the Kwid 1.0 AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) variant today in the Indian market. This is the 3rd and will be powered by 1.0 petrol engine.
The company has revealed some details regarding the car and one most the surprising element is the Kwid 1.0 AMT will offer higher fuel efficiency 24.04 km/l as compared to the 1.0 manual 23.01 km/l.
The Kwid Easy-R five-speed AMT unit will be available only on 1.0L variant and the company has no plans to offer it on the lower 800cc engine. The AMT variant engine produces 68 PS @ 5,500 rpm and 91 Nm @ 4,250 rpm similar to the manual spec.
Unlike the AMT gear boxes offered on the Celerio and WagonR, the Kwid will get a rotary gear selector instead of a shifter stick. There is also no option to drive in manual mode and no sport mode similar to that offered on the Tata Nano.
The Renault Kwid 1.0 AMT has the ‘Shift Control Dial’ with 3 driving modes – Reverse, Neutral and Drive.
Pricing will be on the aggressive end and could start at Rs. 4.2-4.5 lakhs.
