Renault is all set to launch the automatic version of the Kwid hatchback in the Indian market. the car was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and will be powered by a 5 speed Easy-R AMT gear box.
Renault launched the Kwid 1.0-litre engine in August and the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) will be the next variant in the Kwid line-up.
Some Renault dealerships have started accepting bookings for the Kwid AMT for a booking amount of Rs. 10,000 and the company will officially announce very soon.
The Kwid AMT will be powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine and will be offered on the RxT and RxT option variants.
The 999cc three-cylinder petrol engine produces maximum power of 67bhp and develops a peak torque of 91Nm. The AMT version comes mated to a Renault new EasyR automated manual transmission (AMT) unit. The AMT version is expected to offer a mileage of 23.10km/l.
Unlike the AMT gear boxes offered on the Celerio and WagonR, the Kwid will get a rotary gear selector instead of a shifter stick. There is also no option to drive in manual mode and no sport mode similar to that offered on the Tata Nano.
There are no changes on the exterior and will be identical to the 1.0 Kwid with EASY-T badge on the rear.
On the inside again there are no changes except for the rotary gear selector on the centre console. The SUV inspired hatch will continue to offers a 7-inch MEDIANAV touchscreen display, front power windows, digital instrument cluster and all the standard features offered on the RxZ trims.
Pricing will be on the aggressive end and will lock horns with the Alto K10 AMT and WagonR AMT.
The Renault Kwid has been a sales success for Renault and has helped the brand to reach a much wider audience and also help the French car maker to become the sixth largest car maker in India.
