Honda is getting to launch its next big model in the Indian market, the all new City. For years the City has been the mainstay model for Honda in the Indian market. The company launched the Brio and Jazz small cars, but both could not outselel the City which remains to be the number one Honda car in the Indian market until the launch of the Amaze.
Come January 2014, Honda will launch the all new City in the Indian market. The 4th Gen City will be based on the all new platform and will share underpinnings with the new Jazz and upcoming Urban SUV both expected to be introduced in 2014.
Honda India has begun testing of the new City in the Indian market, and we soon expect the test mules making rounds around Noida and Rajasthan.
The new City will make its appearance in Japan in November at the Tokyo Motor show and will sport the all new i-DTEC diesel engine, the second model from Honda to offer a diesel engine after the Amaze. The 1.5 i–VTEC petrol engine will be offered and Honda is most likely to tune it to produce higher power.
The new City will give the Verna much needed competition, and will certainly regain the pole position.
