After Ford Figo, Elite i20 and i20 Active to get 6 airbags.
Hyundai Motor India will be introducing the Elite i20 and i20 Active with 6 airbags. The company plans to introduce side and curtain airbags on the top variant Asta Option to further increase safety levels.
Currently the Elite i20 and i20 Active come with dual airbags standard across all variants. Safety features are gaining importance in the premium hatchback segment. The Elite i20 will be the second car in the Indian market to offer 6 airbags. Ford was the to introduce 6 airbags on the Figo & Aspire and also the first auto maker to offer this feature in the hatch and compact sedan segment under Rs. 8 lakhs.
Globally, Hyundai offers a lot of safety features on the i20 such as Lane departure warning system (LDWS), Electronic stability control (ESC), Vehicle stability management (VSM), Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), Hill-start assist control (HAC), Static bending lights (SBL), 6 airbags and Emergency stop signal (ESS).
These features are very unlikely to make it into the Indian market in the near futures on cars priced below 10 lakhs.
The Elite i20 and i20 Active with 6 airbags will be launched very soon and will be available across all dealers.
Hyundai had updated the Elite i20 and i20 Active Audio Video Navigation System- 17.78 cms (7”) Touch Screen, Projector Type headlamps, Cornering Lamps, LED DRL & Positioning Lamps in the Asta Option variant.
The i20 Series has been very successful in the Indian market and has been able to sell an average 9000 units per month. There are rumors of automatic transmission to be offered on the car in the future.
The Elite i20 Asta option is priced at Rs. 7.6 lakhs for the petrol version and Rs. 8.85 lakhs for the diesel.
