Hyundai is all set to launch the new Santa Fe in India in January. The all new SUV will be launched ahead of the 2014 Auto Expo in the last week of January. Another important update is the pricing which is expected to start as Rs. 22 lakhs for the entry two wheel drive manual version.
The new Santa Fe was unveiled at the 2012 New York Auto Show. The third generation Santa Fe adopts the ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design language making it more aggressive and stunning. Powered by a R-Series 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine is tuned for better performance. In all there will be four variants on offer: 6 speed M/T – 2WD, 6 speed M/T – 4WD, 6 speed A/T – 2WD & 6 speed A/T – 4WD. The Automatic with 2 wheel drive will be offered for the first time. The SUV will get updated suspension with independent suspension which means the ride could be better than the outgoing model.
One main factor for the aggressive pricing is local assembling of the Santa Fe in India. The SUV will be pitted directly against the segment leader Fortuner and will certainly show more resistance than before, thanks to its aggressive styling and technology.
