ŠKODA India to hike prices by 2% – 3% across model range

SKODA India price hike from Jan 2016

Czech premium car maker ŠKODA Auto India will revise the pricing across its entire model range coming January 2016. The prices will be hiked in the range of 2% to 3% across the entire product portfolio. The price increase will translate into an increase of approximately Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 50,000 depending on the model and the variant.

The company has blamed the increasing input cost and changing market conditions for the price hike.

ŠKODA Auto India which exited the competitive hatchback market 2 years back currently retails the Rapid, Octavia, Superb and Yeti SUV. The company plans to launch new models in the coming.

The new Superb will be launched early 2016 followed by a compact sedan which the company has been developing along with Volkswagen.

ŠKODA AUTO India has a network of 66 sales and 72 service outlets across the country. The company has gone on a contraction mode and is currently concentrating on the premium end of the market. Sales have been sluggish with about 1000 odd units per month and Rapid has been the best seller for the company.

The company may consider bring back the Fabia hatchback in the Indian market with the growing premium hatchback segment seeing many takers considering the success of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
