Tata Motors recently announced its entry in the Australian market via a joint ventue with Fusion Automotive the Australian who hold all rights for distribution of Tata vehicles, both personal and commercial. The Xenon Tuff Truck concept is designed by Chief Designer Julian Quincey, Walkinshaw Automotive and will be premiered at the National 4×4 & Outdoors Showand Fishing & Boating Expo, August 23-25 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
The concept will be the main showcase at the event and will also announce its official entry of Tata Xenon 4×4 and other light commercial vehicles in the Australian market. The Tuff Truck concept comes with exclusively designed body kit and accessories pack which includes 20” alloy wheels, snorkel, sports bar with the roof, driving and Narva LED Xenon lighting.
The Xenon pick-up truck will display the strengths of Tata vehicles and will be brand ambassador for all other light commercial vehicles. The Xenon will go on sale from October 2013 and will be offered in 4×2 and 4×4 options powered by a 2.2L Turbo diesel engine with Euro 5 complaint engine. Features like dual air bags, audio system with Bluetooth and USB will be offered.
The Tata will have to battle established players like Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Chevrolet in the pick-up market. It will not be an joy ride for the India auto maker and will have to offer a value for money product if it wants to make some dent in the already established market.
