Tata Motors have revealed all the details of the new Zica small car at the media event in Goa. The Zica is going to the one of the most important launches for the auto maker which could help the company revive sales and market share
Variants
The Zica will be available in 5 variants – XE, XM, XMS, XT and XZ.
Engine & Transmission
After the successful launch of Revetron engine, Tata has introduced the new Revotorq engine series. The Zica petrol comes with an all-new 1.2-litre three cylinder DOHC aluminium engine develops 85Ps @ 6000 rpm of power and 114 Nm @ 3500 rpm of torque.
The diesel engine is also an all-new 1.05 litre three cylinder DOHC unit made of aluminum with a cast-iron block. This new motor generates 70 Ps @ 4000 rpm of power and 140 Nm @ 1800-3000 rpm of torque engines offer best in class torque the diesel also has a flat torque starting at 1800 which will offer good drivability especially in traffic.
Another segment first is the driving modes ‘City’ and ‘Eco’ which help to enhance the fuel efficiency depending on the drive mode one selects.
The engines are mated to a 5 speed manual transmission and there is no AMT on offer. We could expect this to be launched in future considering Maruti has it on 3 cars – Alto K10, Wagon R and Celerio.
Dimensions & Weight
The Zica dimensions are compact. The car is 3746 mm long, 1647 mm wide and 1535 mm high. It comes with a wheelbase of 2400 mm and decent high 170 mm ground clearance with 14-inch wheels. The car has a short turning circle of 4.9 meters and fuel tank capacity of 35 liters. The Zica petrol weighs 1012 kgs while the diesel 1080kgs.
Suspension and brakes
The Zica comes with independent front suspension and semi-independent at rear. McPherson struts with coil springs are provided at from, while a twist beams at rear. Disc brakes offered at the front while drums at the rear. ABS, EBD & Corner control is available on the top models
Audio & infotainment system
The car will be equipped with Tata’s ConnectNext infotainment system with 8 speakers Bluetooth connectivity and steering-mounted audio controls for phone as well as audio. It will also have smartphone-based navigation (Android only). USB and iPod is also available
Safety features
In terms of safety the Zica gets driver and front passenger airbags, speed sensing auto door locks and an engine immobilizer. ABS and EBD along with corner stability control is also on offer.
Pricing
Pricing could start at Rs. 3.5 for the base petrol and Rs. 4.25 for the base diesel.
