After Zica Tata to launch Sway compact sedan which will replace the Indigo eCS in metro cities
Tata Motors will launch at least 2 new products every year until 2020. The company which has lost ground mainly due to aging products will launch a new compact sedan Sway which is essentially the sedan version of the newly unveiled Zica hatchback.
Tata Motors has been a leader when it comes to creating new segments. The Sway compact sedan will be positioned below the Zest and will create a new Sub compact sedan category.
The new compact sedan will be powered by the same set of engines which does duty on the Zica. The new 1.2 3 cylinder Revotron petrol and 1.05 Revotroq diesel engine will be on offer with similar power and torque figures. Tata may offer the Sway with a petrol AMT.
The Sway will be loaded with all the features available on the Zica and could higher equipment levels to justify the higher pricing and extra boot space. The car will offer integrated music system from Harman with eight speakers, Bluetooth connectivity with phone and audio streaming, step-by-step navigation guide, dual airbags, ABS, steering mounted audio controls with voice command, electrically adjustable ORVMs and color coordinated interiors.
The Sway will be targeted to customers who are either upgrading from a micro hatchback like the Nano or Maruti Alto or first time buyers who want a bigger car but does not want to move above the Rs. 5 lakhs price bracket.
The Sway is expected to be launched in the middle of 2016 and will be positioned below the Zest and above the Indigo eCS which will be sold in tier 2 and tier 3 cities and as a commercial vehicle only in metro cities.
