TVS Motor Company, India’s fourth largest two wheeler maker launched its fourth product in the scooter segment, the Jupiter. The new scooter is built on the Wego platform but is larger and is targeted to enthuse the male customer. The Jupiter is powered by the 110cc engine which also does duty on the Wego but the all-aluminum, noise-free, low-friction engine offers a better mix of power, acceleration and best in class fuel efficiency. The engine produces max power of 8 bhp (5.88 kW) at 7500 rpm and torque of 8 Nm at 5500 rpm. TVS claims a superior mileage of 62kmpl (2 kmpl more than the Honda Activa) thanks to the TVS patented Econometer which guides the rider in the Eco Mode and Power Mode to manage the ride best suited to riders convenience.
The scooter has an overall masculine look with twin city lamps, brightest headlamp and stylish LED tail lamps. The black finish alloy wheels accentuate the looks.
The Jupiter comes with many first in class features such as:
- External fuel fill a technology which is now becoming a USP of TVS scooters
- A pass-by switch which is found on high end motorcycles
- Telescopic front shock absorbers and rear gas charged suspensions
- Low fuel indicator, which reminds the rider to refuel at the nearest petrol pump
Dimensionally the scooter is quite big with a large wheelbase of 1275 mm with retractable front and under-seat bag hooks, which help to offer lots of leg space. One can store a full face helmet in the storage space which is 17 litres under the seat. Another handy feature is the under-seat mobile charger provision which allows charging on the go.
One can choose between four different colours: Titanium Grey, Mercury White, Midnight Black and Volcano Red. The Jupiter is priced at Rs 44,200 ex-showroom Delhi.
The Jupiter looks quite similar to the Honda Activa and Suzuki Access and will help the company to offer more choice to the growing demands of scooter customers.
