- The 5th edition of 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally & Concourse Auto Show showcases the first Benz car invented by Karl Friedrich Benz, pioneering founder of the automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz.
The 5th edition of annual “21 Gun International Vintage Car Rally 2015” was flagged of from historic Red Fort by Chief Guest HH Maharaja Chhatrapati Shahu II Bhonsle, The 13th Maharaja of Kolhapur since 1983 in the presence of Dr Lalit K Panwar, IAS, Secretary Tourism, Govt of India, Sh KTS Tulsi, President , HMCI, Nitin Dossa, President VCCCI, Douglas Fox, Secretary Malaysia Singapore Vintage Car Register, Maharana Manavender Singh ji Bahadur of Barwani etc.
Addressing a media gathering, Mr. Madan Mohan, Managing Director, 21 Gun Salute and the brain behind country’s biggest vintage extravaganza told, “The 5th edition of 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally has definitely surpassed all the vintage events in the country in terms of the presence of vintage cars from all key states of India and the rarest of the rare vintage jewels one can find here” “The vision of the event is to place India at the global tourism map as the most attractive country when it comes to vintage cars and heritage motoring history. It aims at acquainting the youth to the rich heritage and culture of cars in India” added Mr Madan Mohan
201 vintage beauties, carefully selected from a pool of over 3500 vintage cars across India poured early morning at the Red Fort Ground. Some of the marquees who has made to the largest vintage rally in the country were MOTOR WAGON the first Benz car invented by Karl Friedrich Benz, pioneering founder of the automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, 1929 ROLLS ROYCE TOURER, 1939 BUICK SPECIAL SERIES, 1947 CADILLAC CONVERTIBLE, 1923 ROVER 8, FORD 1921, 1913 STOEWER, 1928 MORRIS, LINCOLN, BENTLEY MARK 6 1948, 1936 DAIMLER SPORTS COUPE, 1952 DAIMLER DB 18 DHC, 1946 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL , 1935 AVON DHC, 1929 AND 1930 PACKARD 733 etc
Congratulating Mr Madan Mohan, Douglas Fox secretary, The Malaysia Singapore Vintage Car Register, told, “The 5th edition of 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally & Concourse Auto show will be probably the first Indian vintage show, where vintage cars have arrived across boundaries of Indian subcontinent. The Malaysia Singapore Vintage Car Register is one of such overseas vintage club.”
“Besides, showcasing the rich automotive heritage to the world, the rally took up a social cause too. Previous editions have supported the welfare of special and blind children. This year the theme is ‘Save the Girl Child’. A percentage of the proceedings from this event will be given as a charity for the welfare & education of Girl Child disclosed Mr Madan Mohan.
The rally passed historic monuments like Rajghat, Teenmurti Marg, National art Gallery etc and culminated at Leisure Valley Park in Sector 29 Gurgaon. At the Culmination point, a grand reception was organized to felicitate the participants and other guests. The entire caravan of vintage cars, vintage bikes and scooters participating in the rally was consummated as one of the biggest vintage car shows in India.
On the second day ie Sunday 22nd February 2015, these vintage cars will take a round of Gurgaon also.
Organized in association with Heritage Motoring Club of India (HMCI) the renowned international authorities in vintage cars who have lend their support to make this event truly a world class affair are Douglas Fox, General Secretary Malaysia Singapore Vintage Car Club, Ken Gross, Automotive writer from UK, Klause Muller etc.
The vintage drive witnessed rare cars dating from pre war era of 1880s to the glorious time of 1960s, hailing from the exotic lands of United States, United Kingdom, and other countries of the world. Most of them were the unfathomed saloons and convertibles from the imperial houses of Rolls Royce, Stutz, Buick, Ford, Chevrolet, Austin Martin and Bentley. One of the precious automobile on display was the first car invented by Karl Friedrich Benz, pioneering founder of the automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz.
A brain child of Mr Madan Mohan, one of the country’s biggest vintage car collector, the 5th edition of 21 Gun Salute vintage car rally will surely place India on the global map of vintage car events, with over 200 vintage cars & bikes set to roll over on Delhi and Gurgaon roads for a 52 km stretch.
