Volkswagen re-launches iconic Beetle in India, Sold as CBU in select dealers

German luxury car maker has re-introduced the iconic Beetle in the Indian market. The Beetle which was first launched as people’s car, the Beetle now retails at Rs. 28.73 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai) and is sold across select Volkswagen dealerships in India. The sold is sold as a CBU and will be available in single fully loaded variant.

A symbol of freedom, love, unique styling and fun, the Beetle has over the years, developed a cult following among automobile enthusiasts and classic car patrons in India.

The Beetle is powered by a turbocharged 1.4L TSI engine and is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The engine develops a good 150 PS at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. The ARAI-certified mileage of the car is 17.68 km/l.

The car rides on 205/60-R16 alloy wheels with 4 alloy wheels 16″ “Whirl” and Space-saving spare wheel 16″.

Exterior features include – Panoramic tilt/slide sunroof, Bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights ( DRL), Front fog lamps with static cornering function, LED License plate lights, Protective side moldings in body color with chrome strip, Rear spoiler and Green heat-insulating glass in side and rear windows which help to keep the cabin cooler.

The interiors get “Vienna” leather seats, Mood lighting on front speaker surround- 3 colours, “Chrome trim for rotary light switch and controls of AC system”, Leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with Multi-function display, audio and telephone controls, Paddle shift for the sporty and manual feel, Leather hand brake lever handle and gearshift knob.The Door and side trim panels get partial leather.

In terms of safety the Beetle gets four air-bags: Driver’s and front passenger airbag with front passenger airbag deactivation and Combined curtain and side airbags. The vehicle also features Electronic Stability Control with driver steering recommendation, ABS, ASR, EDL and EDTC, Hill hold control, Electronic immobilizer and Front & rear Park distance control, with acoustic warning and graphical display for easy parking.

An interesting feature is the new Brake pad wear indicator which alerts you when to change your brake pads.

In terms of Comfort and Convenience the Beetle is equipped with Climatronic dual-zone auto air-conditioning system, Multi-function display “Plus”, Sound system with 8 speakers USB interface, AUX-IN and Bluetooth connectivity, Instrument cluster with electronic speedometer, odometer, tripmeter and tachometer and Front seats with height adjustment, The Start/stop system with generative, Rain sensor and Cruise control system.

The iconic car will be available in four color options- Habanero Orange, Oryx White, Tornado Red and Blue Silk.
