Yamaha Motor India is all set to introduce the new YZF-R3 in the Indian market tomorrow (11th august). Yamaha has chosen the Budhh International Circuit for the launch of the performance motorcycle. The bike has been spied at a dealer and the saree guard confirms the Indian spec motorcycle.
The Lightweight supersport bike is developed using pure R-series DNA using a slim and light chassis with agile and sporty handling.
The Yamaha R3 is manufactured in Indonesia and will be assembled in Indian using completely knocked down kits imported from the mother plant. Dealers have started accepting bookings for the R3 at Rs. 10,000 and the bike is expected to be priced around Rs. 3 lakhs.
The YFZ-R3 is powered by a Smooth, strong 321cc, 2-Cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valves parallel twin motor that is mated to a six-speed transmission. In international markets, the engine is tuned to churn out 42 Ps of power @ 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of torque @ 9,000 rpm. The Indian version may get a slightly de-tuned engine due to bad quality fuel. The bike comes with large disc brakes at both ends and ABS will be fitted as standard equipment.
The YZF-R3 will be available in three colour options namely Red, Blue, and Black.
The Yamaha YZF-R3 will compete with the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC390 and Benelli TNT 300 and the Hyosung GT250R.
